Roberto Corbo animates his painting with a powerful gestural charge, which results in a dense and violent colors and in an use of depth in an highly evocative way. Balancing between abstraction and informal taste, sometimes not disdains the comparison with the pictorial tradition and the landscape of invention, which he manages to transform into visions with a decidedly dreamlike flavor, with great personality and emotional tension.

His painting is comparable to the Jazz music:

an explosion of colors and ideas.

Vittorio Sgarbi

In a symbolic and elegant style, which reaches nearly harmonic rhythm of poetry, born the works of Roberto Corbo ... The strong lines, bold and decisive, controlled by a regular composition, as an alternative rhythm and color and splendor lights harmoniously coordinated. They are signals that do not accept discussions, but free thought from the bonds and replace anarchy by the power of nostalgia of a real discipline.

Roberto Corbo with the colors proves to be a specialist in escapes.

He manages to build around a world of fleeting abstract symbols, where in fact the man gives way to the artist, where the world of the exact orthogonal projections is upset by this gestural wind which gets up on the canvas to give rise to moments of a conceptual intensity,  full of moods and unsolved riddles.

Roberto Corbo works in one go, at first intention. But the work surface, while in the informal storm in which it is subjected, maintains an astonishing consonance of colors and sees respected that sort of unwritten cosmogenic law (but perceived by the artist) which brings to the "innate genia" from which the balance of non-figurative was born: the dynamic lines, that Corbo let release from the graphic nothing, go to paint in the backdrop the textile into a harmonious and instinctual whole which also makes "the idea-mother" from which the artist departs and to which he wants to arrive.

Painting for Roberto Corbo is his whole life...With the colors he tells us his story, made up of "social protest, but first of all formal protest, structural protest, linguistic protest", Maurizio Fagiolo writes in this way about Vedova work and Corbo, probably tooks its first steps in the art through the medium of informal artists.

The brushstrokes, sometimes with spatula, spread out on the canvas with the anger of his own being, in a violent gesture, make Roberto as an erupting volcano. Perhaps the past assumes in Corbo a revitalizing function, it allows him to live in the present, regardless ...

The explosive force of his painting is not sparing anyone ... even himself .... so much so that by the gestures of his brushstrokes clearly appears its complex condition ...

For Roberto the art is the eternal mirror of life; long ago he wrote "my painting adheres to stressful current events breaking out from time to time in the rebellion or in hope, with warm and full colors."

And it's true ... the colorful abstract symbologies of the past cry of rebellion soften ... leave the violence of the strong colors to dissolve in more sweet and delicate tones.

The Hope wins the rebellion and the painting becomes Feelings.

Corbo based his painting on the abstract expressionist stylistic means without losing sight of the object and its tradition. In this lies the secret of the radiant power of his paintings

Energies, the most appropriate term to describe the works of Roberto Corbo. Observing his paintings everyone has immediately the feeling of being overwhelmed by an incredible energetic force. The movement in the painting betrays the spontaneity of the artist's relationship with the work and the privileged role of the subconscious of the creative process. The instrument he uses is mainly the "spatula". In him it becomes prosthesis of the thought that is expressed in the instrument that allows you to create images otherwise only intuited or thinked; it is always a manifestation of the energy and the thought of man.

Huge canvases of deep blue are torn by violent flashes of light. The strokes that create and accompany the shapes on the canvas are like scratching to a soul that is totally open to be read. A game about the most intimate feelings and things, of an ego and of what is beyond the ego. The colors are given with spatulas charged that leave deep marks in evidence, such as carved, to give greater incisiveness to his message. Dark colors, shadows that accompany life, are opposed to bursts of violent colors, crevices of hope. His works are characterized by great communicability and let see his sensitive, reserved and meditative soul. That's why in the works of this artist joy, sadness, violence, arrogance, serenity and peace run after each other in a tell of colors, shapes and feeling.

The matter is in metamorphosis, is in transmutation, as the soul of man, his feelings, his passions.  The matter is alive as the spirit that embodied. The artist interprets its signs to communicate them to the viewer which cannot see.

Big-Bang, Boom, Metamorphosis, the Angel, Ground attack, Revelation, Liberation, The Warrior, Resurrection ... are some of the titles of the works painted by Roberto Corbo.

No doubt, the main theme is energy, the life energy, physical and spiritual at the same time, more spiritual than physical. Nothing is created, nothing is destroyed, the matter transmigrates in other material continually changing.

The matter explodes in new forms, with more and different colors that transmute into each other and merge once again to become pure according cadences and rhythms, now slow, now acute, the graphical display of a piece of music, pure energy of colors, of jazz.

Dynamic lines give off colors, explode in colors, many: from electric blue to yellow, from green to deep reds. A kind of informal futurist or informal futurism could define his artistic language, the one that suits him most. The titles of the works, which exist, do not matter except to the extent that globally suggest the energy issues underlying his paintings.

Roberto Corbo lives spiritually in the emphasis of arcane colors. For him the freedom accorded to men solicit the fantasies of the most heated visions, moving with his quick, instinctive brush, chromatic symphonies in stupendous emotional feelings.
